Voters in NY-19 will hear from State Senator Peter Oberacker in September on Binghamton broadcast and cable, streaming, radio, and mail that he is a businessman – not a career politician – who has created jobs, served his community, and understands the challenges voters face in this district. Voters will also learn that Senator Oberacker stood up to utility companies (NYSEG) in the State Senate and introduced legislation to help families with rising utility costs – while Josh Riley holds stock in NYSEG’s parent company, Iberdrola, and profits off of rate hikes.

Hypocrite on Fighting Utility Companies

Despite claiming to fight for lowering utility costs, Josh Riley is supported by organizations that advocated for the laws that increased utility rates, has accepted thousands from utility lobbyists, and owns more than $100,000 in stocks for the parent company of NYSEG – the company responsible for raising upstate New York utility rates.

Voted Against Rural Healthcare Funding

Despite upstate New York’s lack of rural health care access, Josh Riley joined with extremists in the Democrat party to vote against a $50 billion investment in rural health care.

Absentee, Do-Nothing Congressman

Josh Riley is an absentee, do-nothing representative. Riley is a Washington insider, living full-time in his mansion in D.C., and rarely visiting his own Congressional District here in New York. While in Congress, Josh Riley has only introduced a handful of bills – none of which have even passed the House of Representatives.

Soft on Crime

Josh Riley has accepted tens of thousands of dollars from groups that want to defund the police and supported a bill that allowed felons to hide their convictions from the public, including someone who killed a teenager and two people who possessed enough fentanyl to kill 500,000 people, that a local District Attorney said “rewards criminals and punishes law-abiding citizens
