Voters will learn that Laurie Buckhout has spent her life fighting for Eastern North Carolina’s values. Buckhout survived IED attacks in Iraq and dedicated her career to protecting American troops. Raised on a farm, she will fight to lower costs for farmers, protect family farms, and expand markets for North Carolina agriculture. And she will fight to keep rural hospitals open so Eastern North Carolina families can get the care they need close to home.

Voters need to learn that Don Davis has repeatedly voted against Eastern North Carolina families. Davis voted for a tax increase that would have cost the average North Carolina household more than $2,400, voted to tax tips and overtime pay, and voted to cut the Child Tax Credit in half. Even as a member of the House Agriculture Committee, Davis voted against $65.6 billion for farmers, including crop insurance, commodity support, and death tax relief for North Carolina’s 35,000 family farms. Davis also voted against veterans funding because the bill stopped the VA from spending taxpayer dollars on sex-change surgeries, while taking $9,000 from a political group that pushes hormone treatments for kids and biological men competing in girls’ sports.

Laurie Buckhout will protect Social Security and Medicare, period. Our seniors paid into these programs their entire working lives, and Laurie will oppose any effort to cut the benefits they earned, while fighting to lower the cost of prescription drugs.

Rural hospitals across Eastern North Carolina are closing their doors, forcing families to drive an hour or more for emergency care. Laurie Buckhout will fight to protect rural health care, keep local hospitals open, and make sure the people of this region can see a doctor without leaving their county.

Laurie Buckhout grew up on a farm, and she knows agriculture is the backbone of Eastern North Carolina. In Congress, she will fight to lower input costs for farmers, kill the death tax so family farms stay in the family, and open new markets for North Carolina crops and livestock.
