State of the Race

Democrat primary voters need to see and read that Matt Schultz is the Democrat they can trust.

Endorsed by Democrat elected officials across Alaska, Matt is a pastor and longtime community leader in Anchorage who has spent his career serving his community in Alaska.

A champion for progressive values, Matt is running for Congress to stand up to President Trump and MAGA Republicans, to protect health care and medicaid, defend abortion rights, lower costs for Alaska families, and stand up for lands, waters, and traditions to protect Alaskans way of life.

Democrat primary voters also need to see and read that “Independent” Bill Hill can’t be trusted. Hill said he’s voted Republican, and Hill refused to say whether he’d caucus with Democrats or Republicans in Congress, leaving the door open to vote with President Trump and MAGA Republicans.

Rank Choice Voting:

“In accordance with Alaska law, all general elections will be conducted by Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). RCV allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference. Only the top four candidates who received the greatest number of votes for any office in the primary will appear on the general election ballot. There will still be a space for write-in candidates except for Presidential races. For a candidate to win, they must receive a majority (50% + 1) of total votes cast. If no candidate receives a majority of 1st choice votes in the 1st round of counting, more rounds of counting continue until a candidate reaches a majority.”

Broll

Nick Begich is a political outsider, businessman, father, and multigenerational Alaskan who fights every day to protect Alaskan’s way of life in Congress. Begich has been one of the most effective members of Congress in just his first term, passing 6 bills into law, more than any other member of Congress, delivering real results for Alaskans.

Begich fought for the largest tax cut in history that cut taxes on tips, overtime, and social security, so working families keep more of what they earn providing families up to $11,000 in additional take-home pay each year.

Begich cosponsored and passed the HALT Fentanyl Act that increases steep penalties on drug traffickers and improves access to lifesaving countermeasures to save Alaskans from deadly drugs. He also passed legislation that secured the border, stopping the flow of deadly drugs.

Nick Begich secured the largest U.S. Coast Guard investment in history – 16 new icebreakers and major upgrades to Alaska’s ports – and pushed the FISH Act to crack down on illegal foreign trawlers undercutting our fleet. Begich also sponsored the Young Fishermen’s Development Act to train the next generation of Alaska fishermen, ensuring the fishing industry stays alive and well for future generations.

Begich lives in Chugiak with his wife, Dharna, and their son Nicholas, continuing traditions of raising the next generation of Alaskans.
