Voters are learning Jennifer Balkcom is exactly who she says she is — a hardworking Western North Carolina farm girl who understands the struggles facing families because she lived them herself. An eighth-generation Western North Carolinian raised by a single mom, Balkcom grew up working her family farm and worked three jobs to put herself through community college. Those experiences shaped who she is and how she serves: she knows the value of hard work, understands what it means to struggle, and has fought in Raleigh to protect Western North Carolina’s family farms — including leading the effort to stop China and other foreign adversaries from buying North Carolina farmland.
Voters need to learn Jamie Ager isn’t who he portrays himself to be. Ager’s ads present him as a moderate, independent-minded Western North Carolina farmer — a neighbor focused on his family, his community, and serving the place he calls home. But behind that carefully crafted image is a very different Jamie Ager. Voters need to learn Ager has taken thousands of dollars from George Soros’ family and Wall Street hedge fund billionaires; proudly campaigned alongside Pete Buttigieg, who supported cutting America’s prison population in half and providing government health care to illegal immigrants; and is backed by an organization that repeatedly called to defund the police.
