Joe Mitchell B Roll

Joe Mitchell began his public service by running for State Representative at the age of 20. Sworn in at 21, Joe became the youngest state legislator in Iowa history. Following his service in the Iowa state House, he served as a Regional Director at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and as the Chief of Staff at the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Joe is a developer focused on workforce housing, and he has seen firsthand how the housing shortage impacts families. Joe has been working hard to ensure that Iowa families have access to housing, so that we all can attain the American Dream of home ownership. Joe is running for Congress to ban congressional stock trading and enact term limits, and he refuses to accept corporate PAC money.

  • Joe Mitchell supports banning members of Congress from trading stocks, term limits, and strengthening ethics laws to stop the revolving door of politicians getting rich off public office. Elected officials should prioritize bringing costs down and helping middle class families keep more of their money.
  • Joe Mitchell builds affordable housing in rural Iowa because he believes every hardworking family deserves a shot at the American Dream. He’ll fight to lower the cost of living, cut taxes, reduce government red tape, and help families keep more of what they earn.
  • Joe Mitchell strongly supported the Working Families Tax Cut, which removed taxes on tips, overtime pay, Social Security benefits, and put an extra $3,000 a year back in the wallets of working Iowa families.
