Voters in CA-48 will learn that Jim Desmond:

• Has dedicated his life to public service – having served in the US Navy, as Mayor of San Marcos, and currently serving as a San Diego County Supervisor, where he works with both Democrats and Republicans.
• Voted to lower prescription drug costs and expand healthcare access for nearly 1 million low-income and vulnerable San Diegans who rely on Medi-Cal. In Congress Desmond will hold healthcare and insurance companies accountable.
• Wants to root out government corruption, hold both Republicans and Democrats accountable, establish an independent ethics commission, and ban Members of Congress and their spouses from stock trading.

Voters in San Diego and Riverside County need to learn that:

• Shady developers bankrolled Marni von Wilpert’s campaign. She then voted to give them a no-bid contract worth tens of millions of dollars.
• In 2023, the San Diego Ethics Commission fined Marni von Wilpert for 27 separate violations of city ethics laws and failing to properly disclose donations from lobbyists linked to SDG&E, the utility company that has left working families paying roughly twice the national average.
• As a San Diego City Councilmember, Marni von Wilpert voted against making affordable housing easier to build, even as average two-bedroom rents soared by over 40%.
• Since Marni von Wilpert took office, San Diegans have faced a 30% water-rate hike, doubled parking-meter rates, and a new $480 annual trash fee.
• Marni von Wilpert worked for and raised money for an organization behind California’s most radical laws that lobbies for ending cash bail for criminals, supporting taxpayer funded sex change surgeries for minors, and lowering penalties for child sex predators.
